Elementary UIL Academics

Connally Elementary School proudly participates in academic competitions hosted by the University Interscholastic League. Each year, our students work to hone their skills and develop a competitive mentality while behaving utilizing elements of good sportsmanship. Students that participate in UIL academic competitions often see direct improvement in their excitement in going to school as well as their academic performance in the classroom. For more information about UIL academics, visit the UIL website at www.uiltexas.org.

Dear Parents,

Connally Elementary students will have the opportunity to participate in our District UIL Elementary Meet on Monday December 4th,2023 .  The contest will be at Crestview Church of Christ on Delhi Street in Waco, Texas.

We are encouraging students to try out for the following events:

  • Spelling

  • Chess

  • Art

  • Oral Reading

  • Music Memory

  • Listening Skills

  • Ready Writing

The following are for 5th grade students only:

  • Dictionary Skills

  • Maps, Charts and Graphs

We will have tryouts before and/or after school starting no later than Thursday, September 14th, 2023. The children who do the best job in each event’s tryouts will be chosen as finalists to participate in the official UIL meet.  Other students will become alternates at that time.  This means they are expected to participate in all practices in an effort to grow, learn, and be  ready to compete in the event they are called upon.

For optimal success in making a team and doing well at competition students will need to commit to studying at home along with attending every practice

If your child is chosen for a team, you will be notified of the specific details at a later date. Details like who the coach is, when practice is, and practice assignments.

Please fill out this form and return it to school . Thank you for your cooperation in helping to make this possible.

This is an official UIL event meaning students must be passing all their classes and free from major Student Code of Conduct violations in order to participate.
